Heritage Chilliwack invites you to join us for a captivating Heritage Chat featuring Brian Antonson, a storyteller who has spent decades chasing one of BC's most enduring mysteries — Slumach's cursed lost gold mine near Pitt Lake.


Brian's career in radio and broadcast education spanned decades, including 25 years heading up training programs at BCIT, where he helped shape many of the broadcasters you hear and see on air today.


But his obsession with Slumach started much earlier — at just nine years old, he and his brother stumbled upon the legend and made a boyhood pact to find the missing gold when they grew up. They never did find the gold — but they found something better. Teaming up with colleague Mary Trainer, they channelled that lifelong fascination into a book. Then another. Then another.
